BJP forms committee to investigate political violence in West Bengal

Political violence in West Bengal has prompted the BJP to take matters into its own hands by forming a committee to investigate the incidents. BJP President JP Nadda has established this committee, which includes senior party leaders such as former Tripura Chief Minister and MP Biplab Dev, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Brijlal, and Kavita Patidar. The team, coordinated by Biplab Dev, will travel to West Bengal to assess the situation firsthand. According to the BJP, confrontations between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the BJP have resulted in numerous clashes and deaths of party workers over the past year.

In its statement, the BJP criticized Mamata Banerjee's government, stating, "Mamata Banerjee remains a mute spectator while criminals from her party attack and intimidate opposition workers and voters." The party highlighted that the Calcutta High Court has extended the deployment of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in the state until June 21 due to the ongoing violence. The BJP also noted that political violence was only reported in West Bengal during the recent Lok Sabha elections, contrasting the situation with the rest of the country.
